As the sun greets us more and more each day and the land is baked in its warmth, I grow cautious at the wishes of others who so quickly would say farewell to spring in favor of summer's swelter. My thoughts remind me of that old saying "be careful of what you wish for," as wishes do not always bring positive results.

But even more ominous is the notion of jumping ahead in time, skipping over today in favor of tomorrow, sacrificing days, weeks, or longer, in search for something better. This troubles me, being one who has faced the darkness, as I feel that every breath is precious, every heartbeat has the potential to feel love, every minute the chance to make a friend or help one who is struggling.

Do not wish away your time. The clock ticks much too fast. Hold on to your loved ones. Tell them what they mean to you. Live and love as life was meant to be.
